Every year for the last nine years of my dog Oreo’s life, my best friend Daniel J. Herrera made a drawing of him for my Christmas cards (even the year Oreo got shot, and Santa left him a bulletproof vest!). I will always treasure these drawings. Thanks Daniel! Oreo was The Gandhi of Dogs:

Introducing Rio
We got Chazz a brother today. Mike and I picked him up from the vet’s office this afternoon, after the shelter sent him there yesterday to be neutered. The minute he met Chazz, they were fast friends. Sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart, save for the ears! Claudio grilled up a traditional Brazilian barbecue as the sun set and the dogs tired. Welcome to the family Rio!
I love that he has a dog biscuit in his mouth here!
